Fordson Major 3-point Loss of Lift

I just bought a scraper and posthole drill and noticed the posthole drill had a problem lifting the 12" auger out of the ground. Then a few days later while blading out a truckfull of baserock I noticed loss of lift on the 3-point gradually increasing to where by the time I was done I had to rev the engine real high to lift the blade.

I changed out the 10.8 gallons of rear end fluid with new 85/90 wt. oil but it didn't help.

Can someone tell me if the next step is to remove the pump and inspect the filter? Is there any other possible simple answer than the pump or internal hydraulic cylinder?

Thanks Much for any suggestions.

What happens when there is no load, does the lift work prperly? If it does than it could be the pump is in need of rebuild. If the same thing happens regardless of load, there is probably a loss of fluid either going to or coming from the pump (check your filter). One other thing to check, if you have a live clutch, is perhaps your pto clutch is worn and in need of replacement. This would only happen if you have a dual clutch (61 to 64 major).
Good luck, Dave
