I am restoring a 1958 Dexta, the blue and red dash lights are broken out, does any one know if there is a place in the states where I can get new ones?

Here's a website address where you will get the light for the Dexta

I have a /63 Super Dexta that I bought new. Those red and green lights are no longer available as far as I know, but I've glued little green and red plastic circles cut from scrap plastic bottles in their place. Works for me. There's a fellow near me that specializes in Dextas and has contacts in Europe. He's the one who suggested going the route that I took.

Iam wondering, if you recall what was the cost new then. And why you chose the Dexta instead of a Ford? Or other make of tractor.

Benny, that's a good question. In those days, a rule of thumb was $100/hp list price. We paid $2700 CAD for the Super and a 3 furrow 101 Ford Plow after trading our Jubilee. Why a Super? Well it had boiled down to the Super or a 35 Massey and we just felt that the Dexta was a little beefier, both had basically the same engine but the Dexta's gearing was much better. I once told the Ford block man that a farmer must have designed the transmission rather than an engineer, as it had a gear for every possible farm job. The boys still prefer it as a drill, ditching and finish mowing tractor. Our (new to us)5600 now is the loader tractor, but we still have the old Freeman loader ready for the Dexta if needed. I have no idea as to the number of hrs on this tractor as the hr meter quit 30 yrs ago @ 3356, but the tach still works. Only regret to-day is that power steering wasn't even an option, although it was on the 35 Massey ($50).
