I am in the process of replacing the seals and oil rings on a 1964 FSM diesel due to my 3point hitch not working (it was dirty in there...) I at the point where I need to purchase rear end oil. I have read alot of the old threads and a common theme seems to be SAE 30 HD oil. The company I am buying my oil from is strongly recommending an oil which they claim is 25 EP. They are claiming EP is for extended pressure and is the right oil to use on rear ends, trannys and hydraulic systems. This is the oil a friend uses in all of his heavy equipment.
Can someone please tell me if this would work or should I just buy standard 30HD? thanks

On changing my hyd fluid, I'll use the 80-90, I can't get the plug broke loose, and I'm wondering if it is a left hander. Any Help ?

I use "universal tractor hydraulic fluid" which is produced by many manufacturers. It is light enough for good hydraulic operation in cold weather, has the anti-wear required for pumps, and can be used in systems with wet brakes or cluthes. I use it in the rear-end, transmission, and external hydraulics of a loader back-hoe Major and also in a hydrastatic drive wheel loader.

I have a '61 sm,and I use 80w90,maibly because the lift,pto,and rear gears run off the same oil.my owners manuel said to use 90 weight,but i can't find it,i was told the makers didn't make it,and switched to 80w90.if you emptied it,it will take 11 gals.to refill.this has been my experience.cw
