The ball on the end of the shifter on my 60 Dexta is worn down so bad that the tranny hangs in gear. What rod would I use to weld it up or would it be better to braze it? (I cant determine if its cast iron or steel.) Thanks in advance. J

I used a 7014 rod on mine than ground it down. It did not solve the problem. Mine seems to have no resistance in the shift rails you can slide the rails with your fingers when the shifter is out. Mostly gives trouble when shifting forward to reverse or vis versa. I think the springs or balls are missing that hold the shifter in gear.

I brazed mine, then ground back down down to fit.
