We are having good luck, I think, after splitting our 1927 Fordson to rebuld the clutch. It was flattened, scored, burned and now SEEMS fine with new plates. When we idle the tractor down, cold, & press the pedal all the way the belt pulley finally stops with a slight touch of the pulley with the end of a shoe and then it works fine from then on.Now comes the brake! When in neutral with the pedal down all the way there is no brake. this is because the reverse idler that the brake is on is not engaged unless the machine is in 1,2,3 or reverse. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I thought the brake would be to help stop the transmission drive shaft in a more positive manner in neutral. Can the rear axle bearings come out from the wheelside & if so how? Also, with a High Compression Head, what should the compression be? It rins great but there is one slightly weak cylinder, no tail pipe smoke but some decent amount of blow-by at times. thanks!
