My wife was informed tonight by her ailing father that she was to inherit his prized 1918 fordson tractor along with some antique attachments (ugly rusted plows and such). He bought it for $400 dollars about 3 months ago. It is unrestored. We are told this will not be able to used in its condition. My father in law said it will be given to us as yard display ( Oh Joy ) along with the old rusty farm attachments. We are now expected by his family upon his death to put the tractor and the tractor attachments as a big display in our yard somewhere ( lucky me ). My wife seems so excited that we get to take our yard and convert it to a tractor display. She has been told that this tractor is going to be very valuble. Not running what is this stuff worth? I am just curious even if it was worth thousands of dollars we would never be forgiven if we sold it. Thanks Brian

Thanks for the reply Glenn. No, she doesn't have a sister. My wife is a great lady. Our house has a lot of brick and pony walls. Farm or country stuff just would not go well on our lot. My father in laws place looks great in the country with a old international tractor and plow. I was bothered at first when her brothers were told that they were going to get a restored model A a couple of 1930,s cars that are in the process of being fixed up, guns, tools etc. and she was told she was sort of blessed with the old fordson and several rusty old attachments. She was led to believe that she really got the good deal. I was expected to feel blessed too remodel my recently finished landscape so that I could accomadate a large display. What makes that it even harder is that We are one of the casualties of the mortage mess. I built this large house in 2004-2005 when I started I got diagnosed with Luekemia and the house cost 3 times as much and took 3 times as long to build. We have been trying to sell our dream home for 6 months. We have dropped the price $70,000 and still no sale. The family knows that we will probably lose this house and may have to rent so the tractor inheritance seems a little silly. If some how by the grace of God we can find a way to keep this place. I will do my best to honor the family and my wife's wishes. Posting here was kind of a vent forgive me everybody. I won't let the family know how I feel. Have a good day. Brian

Brian, during the war, my late father in law aquired a collection of Asian art work. It's not like I can say, "Honey, those are the ugliest things, and you can't have them on the wall where quest might have to look at them." Truth is, I not only have to see them, but I must frequently lie about how good they look. When people see them, however, I'm either the only one who realizes how truely ugly they are, or we have very dishonest friends. It is just one of those things that we do for our wives. May I ask you how your Luekemia is going? I lost my stepson about two years ago from T-cell. I hope you are able to beat it, and you are in our prayers. Believe me, a parked 1918 Fordson is quite a handson and manly display. Whether the blue matches your wives eyes, or the oxide matches her smile, it appears to be the perfect accent to a happy home.

The Luekemia is considered gone. No problems with it in the past 3 years. The kind of Luekemia it was was considered 70% curable. However since the chemotherapy I have had multiple heatlh problems. Mainly chest pain. They say it is not my heart, the doctors dont know what to tell me. Some say nerve damage. Others say stomach. Chemo is nasty stuff but it kills Luekemia. Take care and thanks for the reply. BroBri
