Has anyone come up with a way to eliminate the cables that connects the pedals to the drums on my "61"powermajor ie: rod type linkage or by using hydraulic master and slave cylinders ?
I have a couple hydraulic clutch setups that I removed from a couple ford rangers that I had. Maybe I'll see if I can make that work.

All of my Majors and Power Majors have the 3-point controls in the same place. The serial number should be under the front injector on a raised pad on the block. Are your brake cables missing, or are they rusted up?

Jim

I have converted my 57 Major to hydraulic drum brakes.

I made up a bracket to hold the master cylinder(each side of the rear hydraulics under the seat) and fitted slave cylinders inside the brake drum. I still used rods and levers to operate the master cylinder, and to get the required leverage for the pedal. They work quite well, but I would say that correctly set-up drums and cables would work just as well.

Hope this helps

Jim,are you sure that you have a power major?the p/majors were made in '59,'60.the super majors were made in '61-'64.where is the lift controll located,if it is under your right leg it is a power major,if it is on your right side it is a straight major,or a super major.cw
