Your thoughts please...FMD
The old Henry got a little hot and stopped, noticed activity in dip stick hole so pulled it down.
The number four[from the front] piston compression rings were set solid but only 90 degrees each way from the gudgeon pin [flywheel end] the rest was ok. Number 3 had lesser carbon and progressively to number 1 which had none.
Question is why would the buildup be on a sliding scale..Injector pump was overhauled at the same time as all sleeves and pistons were renewed.

Bought a new set for number 4 from Bearco and checking the gap between sleeve and piston, came out at 8thou. The book says to place a .004 feeler strip between and should take 2 to 4 lbs to remove with std pistons.
Would that be the trouble, the gap is 20 times larger.
Thanking you in anticipation.
