I have a two-bottom plow made by Ferguson for a Fordson tractor. It has a lever on top connected to a shoe on the back to adjust the plow depth. Except for some rust, the plow is in good condition. I don't have the mounting bracket that bolts to the tractor, though. I have someone interested in buying it, what would be a fair price?

I am interested in purchasing a Fordson plow. I already have the bracket on the rear of my tractor.

The set of plows that I have are in West Virginia. There is a guy in Tennessee that is interested in them. He is supposed to come look at them next month. In case he doesn't take them and you are interested, email me so I will have your address.

First we need Butch to confirm that the part on my Fordson is the part that you need.

Second, I really haven't thought about selling the part. Usually I sell parts if I have multiples, but this is the only one I have. I'd kind of hate selling it if I later got a plow that needed it.

One possibility would be to have another casting made using the original as the pattern.

Here"s a photo of something mounted to the rear of one of my Fordsons. Is this the part you need?

When I was in my early teens back in 1945, my dad had a Fordson with a mounted plow on the rear of it. That looks like the hitch it had for mounting. It would be interesting to see a picture of the plow. It was a man sised job to raise and lower the plow. This brings back an old memory. Thanks

It sure looks like the correct mounting plate. Perhaps Butch Howe will respond again, if he sees your post. Is it for sale and where are you located?

That is the correct hitch for the Ferguson Plow. You can see from Georges photo how the two links attach. The center piece is cast and reads "do not use as draw bar". These were provided with the plow and are still found on old tractors.

Hi, Those Ferguson plows were sold to use with the early Fordson tractors. They are hard to find in good condition as most were junked long ago. I have had 5 or 6 of them. I have always keep one on a Fordson to take to the shows. Besides, with the plow hanging off the rear of the tractor makes it steer a whole lot easier. The bracket that you need attaches to the rear housing with a plate across. The top pin goes in it and the bottom pin goes in the tractors drawbar. They never did work well and weren't that popular. The sping tension does all the work To raise the plow and the shoe type draft control doesn't work very well. I plowed up a couple of acres a few years ago with one. Most farmers preferred the trailer plows. If someone wanted it a lot it would be worth what he'll pay for it. I bought a rusted one last year for $75. Then I sold a restored one to a buyer in England for $500. Probably somewhere in between.

Are you interested in selling one of your plows?

Thanks for the information. You wouldn't be willing to make me a fabrication drawing of the mounting bracket would you?

I(THINK)you may have found a very rare plow.I have read recently that there is only one left in the world according to the article I read which I think is the same plow.We had a neighbor that used one of those. You may be able to make the missing part out of steel as I think the original was cast as I remember.
