On the left of the tractor there is an opening where to check the oil level on a Fordson Super Major.
I think it would be the rear end/ hydralic oil level indicator and fill up spot
What kind of oil would I put in there?

I use Trans/Hydraulic oil in both my 61 Fordson Super Major and my 62 Fordson Dexta. Haven't had any problems. Over 1800 hours on my on my Dexta, and it is my loader tractor.

I have a 1963 FSM.
I use 30 weight oil in mine as the 90 gets way too thick in the cold months. Never had a problem.
The FSM has two compartments. Filling the gearbox will not fill the Differential.
Fill for gearbox is on left hand side when sitting on tractor There is a dipstick on LH side just around the gearstick. that gives level for Diff. Fill for Diff is at the back of tractor untop the hydraulic cover.

I have a '61 super major, and my manual says to use 90wt gear oil.when your sitting on the tractor, the fill is located on the right, rear.it will take 10-11 gallons to fill if it is empty.also remember that the transmission, pto, lift, and differential all use the same oil,so when you add oil to one, you're adding to all, hope you good luck with your tractor,cw
