I purchased a major and was told it was believed to be a 1960, gas job. It appears that the engine may have been replaced. The serial # on the engine is S460553 or 8460553 and on the bottom of the block on same side there is a number EIADDN6015 G which I believe is a part #. On the fire wall, engine side, center top a small rectangle plate with the # 1250947 stamped on it.

My book says February 1953 and that makes it a Fordson Major Deisel not a power major. Let me get around all the million other things and I'll post all the major numbers up to 1961 MTF

Bernie,
You're right, an engine with an S serial number is a replacement engine. Your serial number from the plate on the firewall is earlier than 1960, probably closer to '52. I don't have a serial number book, but someone else reading this probably can tell you exactly when it was made.
