I have a diesel super major backhoe in pennsylvania. I am pretty sure it is a '62. Is this a 5000 also? I need an exhaust manifold and muffler for it as well as some other little parts. Any info or advise would be appreciated. thank you, ben

Ben:

Indeed a few of the last Fordson Super Majors produced were marketed and bore decals as the "Fordson 5000 Super Major" This tractor however was of Fordson Super Major design and was equipped with the 220CID 4 cylinder diesel engine. When Ford world operations merged and the Fordson was no longer produced... Ford produced the 2000 3000 4000 series. The Ford 5000 is a completely different design than the Fordson 5000 Super Major. The phased out Fordson Dexta became the 2000 and the Fordson Super Major became the Ford 5000.

Nope. They are completely different machines. I have had both. When you talk to a parts guy, check that he is aware of the difference. If
he has gray hair, he probably knoes the difference.

Enjoy your Fordson SMaj. It's a great machine which does more work on less fuel than anything
Ive ever driven.
