I read somewhere that the 53 engines produced in England and USA where made to use lead based gas/petrol. It indicated that the present lead free gas needs an additive to it. Is this so? If so can it be aviation fuel which has lead in it? What would be the mixture of Aviation fuel to regular gas?
Thanks!
Les

Not familiar with aviation fuel. I buy Marvel Mystery Oil in gallon cans ($13/gal) from my local farm supply store and put in my bulk farm fuel tank at the recommended rate of 1 quart per 100 gallons of gas. I have no data to prove one way or the other if it helps or not. I only use it in the summer months. The only gasoline engine that I have that really works hard during the summer is my IH 210 swather. (IH C153 engine) Not unusual to have 100 degree F days here in SD USA. I used regular leaded gasoline as long as it was available from my supplier. Since 1993 I have used unleaded with 10% ethanol exclusively in all my gasoline equipment. My Majors are diesel. In addition to this swather I run 4 Case DCs. Haven't had any valve problems, knock on wood! The tractors just do light duty work, mowing, loader, etc.
