Kim,
I realise that it has been a frustrating few weeks for you and that you have worked very hard to sort out the problems, but from my side you had just about got there. I suppose from your end you were fielding more problems than the rest of us could see. I liked the format once I got used to it. The collapsed format was good to write in as you could see what you were replying to and not have to move in and out of strings. The counter idea and whose on the boards looked good if it worked well but I feel that it was not quite up to scratch.
Once again thank you for your time trouble and efforts. We on this forum are very grateful that you have set up such a good site for us to indulge in our nostalgia.
regards
Brian

Oh dear!

What a surprise to see this old format board again. I remember that I had been on the verge of inquiring whether the format could be changed to something more up-to date when... lo and behold... it happened, and I was delighted. Of course it was easy for me to make the transition; I contribute occasionally to a few other boards (non tractor related) and they all use the 'ultimate bulletin board'.

The disadvantages with this system are that interesting threads 'drop off' from the main page, and that spelling mistakes and other errors that fail to be spotted at the proof-reading stage remain for posterity. On the plus side, html can be used within posts for techies like me to play with, but that is not essential, and it is an option with UBB anyway.

I like the way that live threads float to the top on UBB, and also appreciated the possibility to edit posts whenever; one spelling mistale always seems to slip through otherwise.

To sum up though, Brian has it just right. The main thing is that the site exists. What makes this board so great are the people, not the technology.

Many, Many thanks

John-Paul

PS. What a shame though, to loose that lovely picture of the ASP with its ITS hitch system...

Well, I definitely prefer the 'Ultimate Bulletin Board' myself, for all the reaons J-P mentioned. Too bad they went back to the oldie!

But, indeed, it's the folks that make this place happening, not the technique.
