When mowing the PTO will kick out, mostly when I go around corners, also when I get into very thick & tall grass. A couple months back I augered about 70 post holes and it only happened a couple times. When I throw the lever to start it again there is no grinding or other noises that indicate a looming disaster. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like the shift is worn down inside and is'nt engagng the slider enough to bear a load on the pto.

It's not serious to fix it. Just take the shift out and braze or weld it up, and grind it back down real smooth to fit the collar again.

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A DEXTA AND EXPERIENCING
THE SAME PROBLEM. PTO KEEPS DISENGAGING..NO NOISE RELATING TO IT. IT ALSO WILL STAY IN IF I HOLD THE LEVER BACK. IS THIS A THREE POSITION LEVER?
IT APPEARS TO BE OFF-FORWARD, THEN A MIDDLE POSITION WHICH WILL NOT HOLD ENGAGED AND THEN A
LAST REAR POSITION THAT IF I HOLD BACK WILL STAY
ENGAGED.WILL I DO ANY MORE DAMAGE IF I HOLD LEVER BACK UNTILL I RESOLVE THE PROBLEM?
