Friend has a super M that is leaking oil out of the rear axle by the wheel hubs. Started when using the rear lift and appears to be from around the wheel drive shafts. Have been told its a major (no pun intended )job and not an uncommon problem. It has been suggested that we wind twine around the exposed area and use hose clips to pack this in tight and pack pump plenty of gerease in the axle grease nipples. Any info or ideas please

Jon

There is no quick fix for this job. Only satisfactory way is to remove axle and replace tin cover and seals, including cork and felt.
I have been a Ford/New Holland dealer for over 30 years-so have done many many axle seals.

Bearing should be okay. Check carefully for pitting especially if any moisture has been in the back end. Because of the size of back end, they are prone to condensation, even if shedded.
