Hi, Has anyone out there got any links for pages dealing with the overhaul of voltage regulators, my regulator kicks out around 16.5v which seems high ?
My Fordson is serial no. 1370965 has anyone got any info on it?
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
I replaced the generator/ regulator with an alternator from a Ford Fiesta. I got this from a salvage yard for £10. I made a bracket to carry it, and it works fine.
One benefit is an output of 55A, so battery charging is much quicker than with the old generator (Mine was a complete rewire job. If you are using the original wiring, you might need to check the current rating).

If you need any details of the re-wire, mail me.

The Prince of darkness has a very bright moment. Throw the Lucas parts into the garbage and put on a single wire Delco/Remy alternator. This should cost about about $75 and will last. If you are a purist you might try a British car parts place.
