Col I never put one on but I have seen one.

A neighbor took the power assist cylinder from a 60's or 70's IHC 2 ton fire truck.

He took the steering rods off that run from the steering box to the wheels.

He built a tie rod for under the frontend from left to right side.

He cut the left steering rod in two and put the power assist into the left steering rod and put it back on.

At first I did'nt see how it would work at all, but it works beautifully. He did'nt use an auxillary pump he plumbed his into the pressure check plug in the hydraulic pump cover plate.

Thanks for your input Burrhead .I have been looking at an old massey header with rear power assist . This cylinder could well do the job any thoughts about the removal of the steering box from the Dexta and replacement with controller driven by the steering wheel. Thanks again.

Sorry I could'nt get back to you sooner Col.

I've never seen a Dexta done like you're talking about but they're is'nt any reason why it would'nt work if you can find the set up.

The reason I like how this fellow did his is that it would look like a factory job if he would just fix his pressure supply into somewhere else instead of out the pump plate plug.
