Jan, Heres how I test a dynamo;- 1. Take out the plug-in connectors and join the sockets with a short length of wire. 2. Connect a voltmeter, (0-20 volts) between the two sockets and dynamo housing. 3. increase the engine speed slowly and note the voltmeter reading. This should be 12 volts at low revs. Dont run engine above around 1200rpm. If no reading given, or if its low or erratic, dynamo is faulty and needs a strip down. Unless very badly worn you can usually get away with undercutting the mica segments on the commutator and replacing the brushes. Good luck, Pete.
