Luis. We will try and guide you through this problem you have step by step. First though, you cannot get reverse if you have removed the gear in front of the damaged hand brake unit as this is the gear that reverses the transmission. It is in all our interest to ensure that the job is done safely! You will need blocks to chock the rear wheels to prevent movement and also blocks to stand the parts of the tractor on once it is split. You will have to work through the clutch housing to get the gearbox out so the tractor will need to be totally secure. It could be dangerous to lever or tighten/undo bolts if it is possible to cause the tractor to fall over. You will need a jack to support the gearbox housing. Some form of movable support to move the engine clear of the gearbox by about 3m. I have used hydraulic fruit trolleys or loader tractor and a strong rope or canvas sling under the rear of the sump. Two wedges to go between the front axle carriage and the front axle to stop the engine from tilting. Drain tins for the gearbox and rear axle oil. First get the tractor onto a level area. You will need some room at the rear and enough room around the front to get your splitting device in. Drain the gearbox oil through the plug on the bottom of the PTO housing under the gearbox and the rear axle oil through the plug right in the centre of the axle housing between the two drawbar bars. Remove the four bolts from the rear pto shaft housing and draw the PTO shaft to the rear. Remove the PTO lever and the PTO selector from the PTO housing under the gear box. Remove the four smaller bolts and the two large dowel bolts from the PTO housing. NOTE. This bit is heavy and difficult to handle. It may require two persons. The front of the housing has to drop slightly and then forward to allow the seal lip to clear the rear axle housing, but if you drop it too far at the front the upper gear jams on the front of the cast gearbox. (If you have difficulty getting it out, think what it will be like to get it back)! :) Remove the selector plate and the pulley plate. Look into the gear box from the selector plate towards the top of the box. You will see a selector shaft with a single selector on it. This is held on with a square headed stud locked with a piece locking wire. This is the High/Low selector. Remove the locking wire and stud. Move the High/Low lever to free the selector. The selector will not come off YET. The inner gearbox will have to move forward first. It is important to fit this selector back in position before the gearbox is fully home when rebuilding. Remove bonnet, exhaust and air cleaner top pipe. Disconnect Battery. RIGHT SIDE OF TRACTOR Remove fuel pipe from tank to lift pump, after turning off the fuel. Remove leak off return pipe from cylider head. Disconnect stop cable and throttle linkage. Drain some water from the radiator. Remove temperature sender from cylinder head. This is the fine tube covered by a curly wire. Do not bend or break. Disconnect rev counter drive from either rear of pump or drive on block. LEFT SIDE OF TRACTOR. Remove air cleaner bowl. Remove pin from starter lever rod. Disconnect two small wires from starter switch and main starter cable. Disconnect oil pressure switch. Disconnect Dynamo wires. Disconnect head lamp wires. Should be two push in connectors at side of cowl. Fold all the wires back and tie to steering wheel out of the way. Undo steering drag link where it is attached to the drop arm from steering box. Pull gently on drag link and at the same time hit the drop arm sharply with a hammer to shock the tapered shaft from the drop arm. (If you want, this can be repeated at the front to remove the drag link completly. Remember to hit close to the end but not on it). Disconnect the air cleaner to manifold hose and the rocker cover to air cleaner hose. When you get this far, Post and we will go on. Any problems post or E-Mail. Others can help or use the info. if we use this site. regards Brian
