Yet another Fordson tale

Some old Fordson's never die..... several years ago I asked a FNH dealer if he knew of any Majors in the immediate area. He responded that he did and gave me the fellow's name and phone number. He had a Power Major, with original power steering sitting beside a cattle feedlot... so grown over with weeds you literally could not see the tractor until you were about 3 feet from it. He said it had a 'terrible engine knock' and other than that it was fine. I bought it on the spot for 400.00 (The tractor had duals... and two almost new tires on the rear)

I took the tractor home... cleaned it up a bit, checked fluids... put in a battery and cranked it to get a 'fix' on the engine "knock". Sure enough... the racket was deafening..... . the fan blade was just barely touching an incorrect lower radiator hose! I have used the tractor almost daily since that time.

Chaps,
You are going to have to wait for my Fordson tales as I have written them up and am sending them to Kim for publication on the site. By the sound of it though you can equal most of mine and can tell them just as well!!

I have driven lots of miles to take the pin out of the bracket to allow a dual clutch to be used on a Super. Reported fault was PTO won't stop.
And the other old favorite: Major Hydraulics won't lift. Cure: Engage brain and PTO then try again.

Hope you can have as easy a time with those two E27N's Don.

regards
Brian
