As soon as I depress the clutch, the knock ceases. Does anyone have an idea what may be loose? Thanks, Br

As long as the tractor is running, it knocks like a bad rod bearing. When clutch is depressed, it goes away completely. Pto in or out makes makes no difference. Thanks!

Bill,
If it is in the area of the clutch housing it could be a loose flywheel. I would suggest that you run the engine as little as possible until you have found the problem.
Does the tractor still drive?
Did it come on suddenly?
What were you doing at the time?
regards
Brian

Bruce:

Does the knock occur in all forward gears, including High and Low range? Or does it occur only in a certain gear and range? Is it more difficult to put into gear without grinding the gears now than before this knock began?

Give us a 'bit' more to go on... and we'll "knock" this subject around a little. :-)

Bill,
Could be anything behind clutch, eg. Gearbox, final drives, pto etc. Can you give more info. Also what sort of knock? Is it heavy, light, rattly etc.
regards
Brian
