I almost fear asking this question because of the fierce loyalty of this group to these great tractors. I have a 1959 Fordson Power Major, diesel, that I've had for 10 years that I need to sell. It's been a great tractor, but it's aging, parts are getting very hard to find, and I'm not a great mechanic like some who post here. So I bought a little newer machine for the general tasks around the farm. I can't afford to keep both machines. I wish I could. Kids in college. I'm not a collector. I'm a want to be part time farmer who can't afford the time to spend tinkering on old iron. I really enjoy using tractors for farm work, not fixing them.My question is- what's it really worth? It has excellent rubber, nearly new, runs fine. The only problems I know about are the power steering cylinder leaks badly and no rebuild kit is available. The temp sending unit needs to be replaced. And the engine, while it runs great, is aging. The tach has never worked, so I have no idea of engine hrs. I've not put very many hrs. on in the time I've owned it. The oil pressure is 35-40 lbs. when it's cold and drops to 20-25 when hot and at working rpms. You can tell by the length of this post that I'm attached to this piece of historic iron. As a result I know I'll want more than it's worth to a buyer. That's why I need your help in determining a value. Your comments will be appreciated even if you chide me for thinking of selling such a fine machine. Regards, Barry
