Mark, Some FMD's had a plate attached to the forward facing end of the firewall.. or in this case the partition under the hood separating the battery compartment from the engine compartment. Most however bore no plate, the engine serial number will be found either on the right hand front corner of the block, or on the left side vertically stamped into the engine/transmission houseing flange.

Don,
I read your reply to Mark's question, re Serial No.'s. It helped me, but I'm not there yet.

My Fordson Power Major, has a Vehicle Identification Plate, just where you indicated it would be, on the wall between Engine and Battery compartments. However, numbers don't make sense. Info on plate is :-
"Serial Prefix T - S - 8 - 61 Serial No. 10
Then on same line A569"
Next line "Paint 280 - 4472"
According to previous info received, Serial Numbers for Power Majors should be between 1481091 and 1583906.
Do you have any ideas on what my VIP tells me?
The 61 in the Serial Prefix, probably means year of manufacture ??
Haven't had a chance yet to check out the LHS of Engine block yet, but there is no Engine No. on Upper Front RHS location.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
