Super Major PTO damage

Someone rammed the rear PTO output shaft on my Super Major diesel. It was hit hard enough to send the front PTO shaft (hope you can visualize this) through the small round 4 bolt cover up front. This force also caused some hairline cracks in the front of the housing (near bolt holes). I have all the bolts for the housing removed as well as the shaft circlip removed, but cant seem to get the housing off to weld the cracks/replace it, and fabricate a new cover. Anyone familiar with this procedure, please help. Also any recommendations where I may locate the needed parts reasonably priced. Thank You!!!!!

Not sure I fully follow your discription, but if you can remove the shaft it should bring the housing with it. If not some cover plates have blind holes which allow you to use the studs to break the seal. Check through the inspection ports to see where the shaft is jammed especsilly near the selector lever. As to welding rember it is cast iron so use the special rods and dont do more than a inch at a time, remember to pein the weld to relive stress [tap it with the rounded end of the hammer]. Or depending where you live you may be able to obtain a liquid metal which 'glues' the cracks up, if use this make sure the area been worked on is dry and very very clean. Hope this helps
