Gearbox breather on '57 new major??

My new major diesel is leaking oil through the belt pulley shaft oil seal only after the engine has been doing a bit of work. Perhaps after the gearbox has warmed up, an increase in air pressure in the gearbox occurs and forces oil past the seal. I am wondering if there is supposed to a breather on the gearbox that may be blocked and require cleaning. Any ideas ??

I had the exact same problem on a Super Major 5000! We took it apart twice and replaced seals.

Then I finally saw that it was heat related pressure and drilled a hole in the filler cap to release it. A couple years later I met a technician who told me that one of the bolts is hollowed drilled to act as a relief port. The manuals didnt tell us this.

good luck. It is an easy problem to solve.
