Any of you fellows in the UK ever operate or own a Transit? Okay, this is a tractor page, but this is a farmer asking about a truck for a farm. I need an economical, reliable truck that will never have to do eighty miles an hour or pull five tons. Therefore three hundred horse Powerstrokes are out of the question and so are the Japanese econojunks. Any info please.

Re: Transit. Don't do it! You have the best trucks built anywhere in the U.S and Canada.I run a K30 Chevy diesel here in the U.K. because they are far stronger and more reliable than the junk they build here.I use the vehicle for business every day and would not even think about buying a transit sorry!

Land Rovers have never been popular here and there is no service organization to speak of. Any dealers that are here are only interested in selling loaded Range Rovers to sucker yuppies. I was under the impression that there are a lot of Transits in use in Europe. While in England a few years ago, I seemed to see them everywhere and an advertisement I saw staed that they would get about 30 mpg on diesel with a 6 speed manual transmission. Have I been hearing the wrong info? Thanks for the reply. One thing about Land Rovers which applies to Jeeps, Broncos, Blazers, is they are short and ride like stoneboats. I have to do 500 mile runs occasionally carrying about a half ton in bags, which is why I ask about a van-type vehicle.

How about a about a diesel Land Rover, A lot of UK farmers use them, especially for towing.
