Removing Fenders

I'm in the process of removing the fenders on a new major for repair/restoration. I've removed the nuts from the long bolts that run from the top of the axle to the bottom bracket but the bolts don't want to budge. Are these bolts threaded into these brackets or might they just be corroded in place. I'd like to know before I try and drift them out or press them. Also my 1952 major seems to have the orange paint on the rear differential under a coat of blue. Could the back end of this beast have been orange/red from the factory???? Also, my tires are loaded, can anyone give me a weight on these so I know what I'm up against and so my wife doesn't find me sqwarshed out in the shop.

Just removed mine yesterday. The long bolts were tight after I removed the nuts. I had to use a hammer and large punch to get them out. My FMD underneath the blue paint is red. It must be a primer.

No, the bolts are not threaded, just long. I removed my fenders for a similar job a few years back and decided not to put them back (bought a rollbar instead).

I also have orange paint under blue in places, don't know anymore.

Watchout for the loaded tyres, i'm told they are very heavy, the normal cast iron weights would put add about 300 lbs on each wheel, i would think loading them puts them even heavier!!
