Hi all,

I have a -53 Major with a TVO engine, s/n 1272341, and I'm in desperate need for new replacement wear and tear parts (cap, points, rotor etc). Since these parts are extremly difficult to get hold of where I live (Sweden), I'm wondering if any of you have found replacement parts from any of the most common brands today?
Is this distributor used on any other Ford/Fordson model?
Is there a parts manual available that covers the TVO model? Sofar, I've only found FMD manuals...

Eson,
I have a 1952 version of the same tractor. Parts for your distributor are available from Lucas Services here in England. They have a vintage department which has a stock of old components for the different models that Lucas has built for.

Original Fordson Major parts books showed both diesel, petrol and TVO tractors. The only difference between them is certain engine parts.

Do you know the address, www or mail, to Lucas Services?
I also need to know the part numbers, so if someone with access to the original parts manual could mail me a scanned copy of the distributor page(s), it would be a great help to me.

Eson,
I spoke to the manager of our local Lucas branch on Thursday when he visited me. Lucas made the electrical parts for Fordson. Inside the distributer cap, between the plug outlets there is a Lucas part number. Another part number is on the rotor arm and further ones stamped into the points if you are lucky. If you can get these I can get Lucas to match the numbers and organise the parts for you and send you addresses when the parts are in stock. I am ordering points, cap, rotor arm and capacitor for my tractor too.
