Hello all!

My hydraulic pump housing is leaking. Is it possible to unmount the pump without removing the lift cover and lift arms? or is it possible to just pull the pump housing enought for changing the o-ring, instead of removing all the unit.
I need this little beast back online quick.

any suggestion is welcome.

BTW this is a 1962 dexta

Thanks Jack.C

Hello Jack.

You should be able to drain the case and take the cover back for enough to use silicone to seal it.

I pry the cover back and take Brake clean or ether to spray clean the mating surfaces and then put a small trail of high temp (red) silicone around it. Let the silicone get dry enough to get a little tacky and then tighten the cover back down good.

Good luck and it's good to see you back ok.

Hello burrhead Hello!!

Yea it's good to be back I still look once in a while but Since this tractor is solid as a rock I don't have problem with it.Thanks you very much for the answer. I thought that there was a small o-ring in there at the output of the pump??
my leaking problem occure only when the pump is running i.e. when i release the clutch with engine running.

do you still owne a dexta??

Hi Jack,

There is a pair of internal O-rings on the output of the pump, but they should'nt let the pump have and external leak. The cover only has a paper gasket to control the leaks unless somebody has added and 0-ring maybe.

Could the leak be the center plug??

I am stumped on this one because it definetly is a pressure leak if the pump has to be in gear for the cover to leak.

For any service to the pump you will have to pull the top cover.

Another thought I had is this. If you ran hyd oil this winter and now the weather has warmed up the thinner oil will probly leak anyway. In warm weather you need at least 80W gear oil.

Yep I still have my S-Dexta. I might run the wife off, but I'll hang on to the tractor.:^)
