My Name is Len and I live in South Australia.
I am seeking information for a friend who has a tractor and is trying to restore same.
It seems to be a strange one and not easy to identify.
It was manufactured in England under licence.
The Gear Box markings are County Gear Box with markings of Formoco 4COG13 and number 48D969553 stamped on the plate where the gearbox joins the motor.
The Engine is a six cylinder Diesel with a block number S450355 Fomoco 548E 6015.
Casting number 5826.
The head has the markings Ford 510E-6050-E FL.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
So far I think it may be a 1964 Fordson County.
Can someone help with specs for above
Thank you
Len.

Len,
Sounds like you have a County Super 6 based on the old grey wheeled Super Major and fitted with a Ford Industrial diesel. This tractor has all Super Major parts except for the pinions either side which drive forward to the front wheels. These tractors were subject to breaking up of the final drive pinions and large gear wheels in the rear axle. This was always preceded with the hydraulic lift dropping after the small metal particles scored the ram cylinder. All the ones we worked with only gave this problem, the engine and gearbox never seemed to fail but the rear axles gave problems. Operators who waited till the wheels on one side were spinning like mad then slammed in the dif. lock were the biggest pain.
County made two tractors in the range, the Super 4 which was all Super Major based and had a normal Super cowl and grill, then the Super 6 as above. This had a steel cowl with the headlights right in the top. The cowel was just a bent plate rather than the Super shape.
regards
Brian

Hello Len,
There were several County models. 4wd & crawlers. Basically they were based on standard Ford tractors with the 4wd or crawler conversions. The smaller ones used the standard 4 cyl Ford tractor diesel eg 654, 754 & Super 4. [the 854 was turbocharged] The bigger ones used the 6 cyl Ford industrial motors eg 954, 1004, 1124 & super 6.
With the model Nos --the first 2 or 3 numerals give HP & the last 4 always means 4wd.
The 6 cyl diesels were 330ci & 363ci in size.
I hope this helps. I am in Aust also.
Regards, Manuel
