Well Folks The poor little Super Dexta finally gave up. The people I got it from used ether to start it,they also abused it pretty bad. I was brushhogging with it today and it quit, I finally got it started and loaded it on a trailer and brought it home. It has started "puffing" smoke out of the vent tube and it has aquired a real thirst for oil. You folks have been really great in helping me keep it running this long, now I need to ask for guidance as I began the rebuild.

Thanks for all the help in the past Chip

Chip, sorry to hear that. But after a good rebuild she'll be as fine as ever. A word of caution: rebuilds are pretty sophisticated jobs! If you're uncertain of your own abilities, then get help from a pro. It'll cost you a bit of money but on the other hand nothing is more frustrating than making all that effort yourself and ending up with a faulty engine.

Good luck!

Chip,
Oscar gives good advice but if you do feel you can do it yourself I can guarantee a massive burst of pride when you press that lever and she roars into life for the first time. I have overhauled hundreds of engines and it always gives me a great buzz when they first fire up. Even the little Villiers single cylinder on a cement mixer that I have been using recently.
regards
Brian

Thanks Guys I have built several engines for dirt track cars so I have a fair knowledge of mechanics, but I can always learn from you guys, just never built a three cylinder diesel. I have to at least try to revive my little darlin on my own. The tractor world is new to me so I have been reading a lot and I m sorry to say bugging you guys. And again I must say I am truly grateful for all your help and support. Thanks from Oklahoma Chip

Chip all I would add is to be sure you have a machine shop to fit the sleeves for the pistons if you don't have a hone to do it with.

The finished sleeve size should be 3.600 to 3.601. If you put the sleeves and pistons together as they come to you in the kits, the engine will run a few minutes and seize up til it cools back down.
