I made a plate that fitted on the four bolts where the front weight fits on the front. Then reversed and shortened the wishbone and fitted it to the plate. Used the original trader sump. Tractor has now run like this for 28 years. Will plough with 3 furrows at 10" deep in 5th gear.

regards
Brian

It has been done but as far as I know a tractor sump has not been produced. I think there is a marine sump that is more suitable but the sump the engine has now can be used. You will have to make up a frame to attach the wishbone to.

PS. I just bought a 365 CID Dorset out of a combine on Saturday.

Ive already fitted the engine into the tractor, which is fine.

My problem is, with it being an alloy sump, there is no strengthening between the bell housing and the front of the tractor(like there is on an ordinary 4 cylinder major).

Do you know if the trader engine sump is the same as the dorset sump?

Many thanks.

The Thames Trader (590E) engine sump will not fit the dorset. The side members will require lenthening and that should be sufficiant.
