I was watching TV this evening and all the sudden it hit me, I forgot to drain the water from the air washer on my 1918 F. I did not waste any time in draining it. The low last night here in west central MN was 27 degrees but my tractor was indoors. Guess it can happen to the best of us.

I'd advise adding sufficient antifreeze to the coolant instead of draining. Be sure to run the engine for a while to ensure proper mixing. Draining it every winter isn't very good for the tractor or so I'm told.

I run antifreeze coolant in the radiator of my 1918 F but in the air washer that cleans the engine intake air i have always added plain water. I have always wondered if one could run a antifreeze mix in the washer but the air that runs thru the water is supposed to pick up moisture to prevent knocking when running on kerosene. Has anyone run a antifreeze mixture in the air washer?

Draining the water on old tractors won't hurt them. on a wet sleeve diesel it might cause the liner o-ring to fail but that affects tractors about 1945 and newer, anything older is fine
