Guys please help me with some info on how to fix my problem. The injector coupler on my super major has come apart, any idea where i can get a replacement, and why this terrible thing has happened to my beloved tractor. The injector says simms on it but I have been told that it is a mimmec injector.

1st off...what spark plugs do you have....h10's or h12's...that could be the difference...although i do not know much about these tractors except that we (our family doesnt use it in the winter)

What you are talking about, Darren? The Super Major is a DIESEL-tractor, it doesn't need spark plugs!

Jeff do you have any photo's of your Super? The reason is that I知 slowly rebuilding my NP Super and have an keen interest in seeing the difference, if any between the USA "Super Major 5000" and the Aussie "New Preformance Super Major" versions.

Jeff,
It's no big deal that your coupling has broken. These items are a wearing part. The coupling should be available from a Case/New Holland dealer.

To fit it,turn the engine onto No.1 with the timing on 21 degrees in the little window under the right hand side channel and line on pump drive is lined up with line on pump plate.

Remove the injector pipes and pump mounting bolts, slacken the coupling clamping bolt on the engine end of the pump drive.

Fit new coupling, reassemble.

Slide engine end of drive towards pump until coupling is nipped.

Tighten clamp bolt.

Hope this helps.

Brian

Jeff, I too have a FSM and the coupling is worn slack so at low rpms it slaps (or should I say clacks, not confused with combustion clatter) and I inquired with my Ford dealer (who has been very good) and the code says it's no longer available. My plan is to go to an industrial/commercial plastics firm and buy a suitable piece of sheet stock and carefully lay out the pattern and then saw it out leaving a small tolerence for filing to snug fit. This won't even be a tough duty as extreme temps are not subjected to the exposed coupling. If I were broke down and needed to finish a few more hours I'd even try using as dense a piece of plywood as I had available. Has anyone else done such as this? Bill

Bill and Jeff,

The industrial boys used another type of coupling which was made of rubber. This had a different drive and driven flange but was all together a better system. Try old New Holland combine breakers or truck breakers.

The plastic idea sounds good but remember, the pump takes a bit of driving so I would think the ply wood would wear quickly.

Good luck

Brian

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead. The plywood idea was not thought to offer more than a few hours of operation. The plastic should be as good as original and appear to be original except if the color is wrong. Bill S.
