Setting valve tappet clearance on model F

I am doing a valve grind on my 1925 model F ,the book says 20 thou clearance on cam follower , but the valve sits in a recess on the top of the follower how do I getmy feeler gauge in ???

Dave, this may seem like a silly suggestion but I would take a pin from my wife's sewing kit and measure the outside diameter of it's head with a micrometer or caliper. Set the pin down in the recess and measure the clearance between the pin head and the valve stem. It would act as a ball gage as long as it wasn't too out-of-round and you hold it square to the follower.
