I am trying to get 'inside' my proofmeter. It looks as if where the cable enters the meter it has a little corrosion after being out of action for some years. Does not look too bad but I need to get inside in order to have a good look. The 2 screws on the back of the meter just hold the 'innards' to the back, and there are only two other screws which stick outwards to enable the meter to be fixed to the housing. The glass does not seem to rotate nor does the chrome surround. Can anyone advise how on earth I can get inside ? Thanks. Richard

Take a small flat screwdriver or make one that the flat is slightly bent, and carefully work it under the crimped metal lip and pry the lip up a little at a time until you have worked your way around the perimeter several times and can pop the retaining face ring and glass off. There will be a gasket inside. When putting back on, tape the jaws of some pliers and carefully crimp it back on.

Using a proper size screw driver, slowly and carefully remove the bezel by prying up the overlaying metal to the case. Very carefully remove the glass so as not to break the rubber gasket below it. I used a razor blade to slide between glass and gasket. Remember the location of the rubber and metal gaskets below the glass. Mine had no metal gasket. Go to Link for a complete description. I just did this to mine only to find that the pin forming the axel to the "hand" of the gauge was broken.
