Judy,
It could be any number of combinations. However, I'm sure you don't want ambiguous answers. If the dash has those dates and it hasn't been changed as they often were because of extra sloppy steering, it could be anything from a 1918 to early 23. Production of the American Fordson stopped in late 27 to make room on the same factory floor for the production of the 1928 Ford Model A automobile. After all available parts were exhausted from domestic stock, just about all replacement parts came from Europe. This included complete replacement engines. American replacement engines bore no serial numbers either. When the Fordson model N came out in the early thirties, installation kits were available from Fordson/England to upgrade from the Model F engine to the Model N engine. It appears it was easier and less costly to replace the complete engine. I've got the factory service updates that provide step by step instruction along with the modifications. This is only one possibility for your 'Made in England' engine. One other is of course the whole tractor was produced elsewhere and you just have a used replacement dash. I'd be inclined to go with the first explantion. You may have a desirable tractor on your hands if that is the case. Good Luck, RLL

Is the tractor an F or N?

Look at the front axle. If the axle is straight, it is a Fordson F. If the axle is bent a little then it is a Fordson N.
