Just use a good quality filter such as Fram, Hastings,Wix or Baldwin or even New Holland! I have a 59 Dexta and we are using Hastings Filters hope this helps

FYI - According to many sources the Fram filters of today are NOT as good as they used to be. I have a Dodge Cummins turbo diesel and there is alot of information coming out about Fram filters disentegrating internally, spilling out filter media pieces, clogging oiling holes in the Cummins, and doing major damage - unwarranteeable due to "non-original equipment." There are several oil filter posts on the sister Ford Tractor Discussion about this same topic. Wix and NAPA filters are two of the better filters along with AC and Mobil 1. Fleetguard is also highly recommended for diesel trucks but may not have a filter to fit a Dexta. According to another post I have seen the NAPA 1188 oil filter fits the Dexta. This post is liable to start a fuss so I offer it as "information I have found in the course of looking for other info."

As for oil, your choice - some say use straight-weight designed for your operating temps, others say use multi-viscosity, and the diesel truck guys will say use only 15W-40 in a diesel. Personally, I stick to 15W-40 Pennzoil in my diesels, multi-vis Castrol in my wife's car and my Scouts, and HD30 Pennzoil in my old 78 Dodge PowerWagon and my brother's 77 PowerWagon.

Bottom line is to find what works for you and then keep the fluids changed regularly. The best oil run too long is worse than bad oil changed frequently.
