Pull the head off first so you know what's stuck. If you go rocking it & so on you could make things worse.

The last seized E27N I worked on belonged to my mate. It had one piston stuck ( surface rusted quite badly!). The others were as if it had just stopped! (Obviously the one with the exhaust valve open) The valves on the cylinder were also stuck. Trying to turn it over (even if you could!) could damage the valve and/or the camshaft. Clean the cylinder out best you can. Soak it with your favourite oil! Be patient.
As John said use a block of hardwood close to the size of the bore so that you're hitting as close to the skirt of the piston. Hit it into the "clean" section of the bore. Probably downwards. Disconnect the big end.

Good luck. The one we did took a 7lb sledge to move (over a couple of weekends to let the oil soak in). The up note was that after some work honing, new rings and valves for the stuck cylinder we got it going. It actually went in the World Record Ploughing event in Yass, Australia.

Regards
Andrew

David,
Were it mine I would pull the head and get some mystery oil on the pistons and cylinder walls, keep it pretty much wet for a couple of days, then rock in in gear to loosen it. Good luck.

The best way to free a seized E27N is to remove the head and the oil pan. Poor penetrating oil into the cylinders wait afew weeks then by getting a round length of hard wood like oak hit the pistons up using the round dowel and large hammer. But first disconect the connecting rod from the crank. If pistons are really tight this is the only without doing damage to rest of engine and gearbox. If pistons are really really tight and usually there is one I will hit the piston from the top using about a 6 inche long piece of thick wall round steel tube about 3" in diamitor weld flat iron on top and bottom shape it round like tubing put on top of piston give sharp wack with 8 pound hammer and your pistons will come free with out damage.

I wanted to leave my 2 cents worth. I just put a head gasket on my 54 fordson easy job. I would pull the head off see whats holding you up. I have been using a penitrating oil for 5 yrs this stuff is second to nothing called PB Blaster comes in a spray can leave it soak for 2 days(or till the oil is gone from the top of the pistons) if you have a hand crank try to move it. If no luck fill the water jacket with hot water and try. Good luck.

Doesn't the Fordson have a worm drive final gearset? If it does then rocking it will not produce very much torque at the crankshaft.

I thought the Coke idea was an interesting one. I remember as a child (this would have been in the early 50's) watching my dad try to get lug nuts off of a truck wheel. He walked to a station, bought a bottle of Coke, poured some of it on each lug nut and drank the rest. We stood around and talked for a while and all I could get out of him about why he did it was, "Just wait and see." I don't remember how long we waited, but when he tried the lug nuts again, every one came off. I wonder if it really would work on a stuck piston?
