Burrhead does my 1960 dexta come with a fan shroud on it from the factory or not. Mine gets a little hot, not much over spec, and it don't have a shroud on it. I do have the hood off of it. I'm getting ready to paint it, is why it's off. I disked my neighbor's garden the other day before I painted it and it got warmer than it used to. Would having the hood off make this happen? Yes it should have a shroud on it. It will almost always run hot under load without one.

I never knew of the hood making a difference except that it will put a lot of heat back into your face. Some folks used to take them off and throw them away when a tractor had been turned over or wrecked and ruined the hoods.

I have seen several Dexta that for some reason the folks had taken one fan blade off. It should have 2 blades. I guess sometimes when one got bent they had thrown the bent one away.

Thanks Burrhead, Mine doesn't have one, and never has had one since I have owned it. I will have to make one I suppose. Do you know of any other machine that has one simular to it? Take Care

Capp I can't think of another shroud source. There is only 1.5" difference in the width of the radiator face of a 8N ford and the Dexta. It would be easy to split the 8N shroud and weld a bridge in it to be big enough.

I saw a feller use the black plastic walkway edging material like they have in the Walmart garden center and build a shroud. It is the right width and it is workable enough to bend around the fan and stiff enough it won't collapse.
