Hey Gary,
I just got through overhauling my 1960 Dexta and it cost me right at $1400.00. I bought a rebuild kit from my Ford dealer only to learn from Burrhead that you can get it cheaper from a Perkins dealer. It was around 500.00. I had my head redone and the block decked. They also put my sleeves in, if you can do that yourself, you can save you some money, and please if you do have to have machine work done MAKE SURE THEY ARE GOOD GOOD GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO. I got a bad one and it cost me. A bad machinist can ruin everything. I also put in a new clutch. It is running good now. If I can be of any help in your overhaul let me know. Burrhead is the expert on Dexta's here. He can get you up and running before you know it. Take care

Gary, How long's a piece of string. It's virtually impossible to cost a rebuild until you see what you need. I'm in the process of rebuilding a Dexta which had horrific engine problems. However, on stripping the engine I found the crank, big and main bearings were spot on, the liners only showed a minimal amount of wear and it was the rings that were worn and causing the problem I got away with re-ringing the pistons, cost about 40 pounds altogether. On the black side. a full engine rebuild kit for the Dexta will cost you over 200 pounds.
Strip down your engine and see what you need - you , like me, might get a pleasant surprise.
If you need any help, e-mail me.
Peter.

If it takes a complete rebuild kit w/sleeves they cost about $500 in Houston plus the cost to rebuild the head and fuel system.
