1957 FMD Color???? Price??

I recently purchased a 1957 Fordson Major Diesel in Western Pa. It runs good, with little smoke. New Back tires and tin is great. I paid $3,500 for it. After reading many of the comments listed on this web site, I wonder if I paid too much???

The unfortunate thing is: someone painted the tractor orange with a paint brush. The engine is still blue, but the hood, grill, fenders etc... are all orange. I have found many of the Fordsons were a dark blue. The original paint on this tractor appears to be Ford Blue. (light blue) 1. Were all of the Fordson's Dark Blue or were some painted with the Ford Blue?
2. Were the 1957 FMD wheels orange?
3. Were any of the factory wheels painted Ford Gray?
4. Does anyone know where I could get Fordson orange paint?

I am in the process of bringing it back to the original color/condition. Any help with the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

One more: Is there a web set which shows an actual picture of this model or a Fordson Book on the market???

David, 1. FMD was painted Empire Blue. 2. Wheels were fordson wheel orange. This is no longer available but Howard rotovator orange is a virtually exact match. 3. I believe later models, ie the new performance Super Major retained the Empire Blue livery but had light grey wheels and mudguards. 4.Howard rotorvator orange should be available from your Ford/New Holland dealer, (it is in the U.K.).
