Burrhead! It has been a long time! I lost your e-mail. I had the spare dexta fitted with the MF 135 sleeves like you said, new pistons, rings, valves, stems, springs, milled, etc. It sounds like a sewing machine on steroids, like a tiger purring! Now I can fix the minor leaks, begin beautifying, etc. I need the little light lenses for the dash, a temp. gage, tach or at least the cable, I will post a pic soon. Thanks, Steve

Hey, I live in NC also and have a super dexta and super major. Recently went to an auction in Burlington, NC and bought some shop manuels on super dexta's. I have a few duplicate copies if you need one. Just e-mail me and let me know. PS: have you heard about the Old Time Thrashers Convention in Denton, nc on the 4th of July. They have lots of vendors with new & used parts and will have a big auction. There will be hundreds of tractors there of all kinds.

Congrads Steve.
That's some good news. You sure know how to put a smile on the old man's face.

Keep us informed on the progress. Now that you have plenty of compression the oil leaks should be easier to fix and will stay fixed once done.

Was my super originally 6v? It is 12v now. And is it positive grounded? How strange. Why? Steve

Steve - Your Super would have had twin 6 volt batteries with one mounted behind your left foot on the foot-plate and the other in front of the fuel tank. They were English batteries and lasted a dogs age , nothing available here could touch them for longevity.

All I have is one 12v in the space just behind the engine. I think it is positive grounded, I have yet to check. If there were 2 6v's at one time were they in series or parallel? Thanks, Steve.

Steve - I'm having a senior's moment and can't tell you if they were in series or parallel, however , there's a site out of Holland that is dedicated to Dextas that could give you all the info you'd ever need on Dextas. When that name comes to me I'll get back to you or perhaps Kim could tell you.

Burrhead, the oil pressure is above 90. Is that too high? Also in neutral with clutch out there is no "rear end" noise but as I engage clutch in neutral or in gear, there is a "growling noise". Any ideas? It does run great though. At least the engine was done right. I had to use a Dexta block as mine was cracked. Sorry to hear of your loss. May you see her again. Steve

Steve- The Dutch site is Oscar's at this site - Link - you'll find that Dextas were really popular there and he has a lot of info and connections for parts as well. As for an owner's manual , they aren't that hard to find here in Ontario. If you're not in a great rush , I could probably find one this summer.

Man that's a lot of oil pressure. I don't know of anything it will hurt, but it may cause oil leaks later on on the valve oil line

When I build a Perkins and re-use the old oil pump I always stretch the pressure regulator spring and some times it ends up around 75 psi or so.

The grumble noise sounds like the throwout bearing.

Thanks for the condolence. I'll see Ma again

Burrhead, can you e-mail me and give me your phone number again. I have moved to NC and can't find it. I am sure I will need to talk to you as time goes by. Thanks, Steve
