I have a question for Burrhead.. I have a 62' SD and am having the engine overhauled. The Mechanic that is doing the work says he needs an oil pump idler gear.(The new oil pump assy that we bought does not include the idler) He has tried Perkins, Massy Ferguson, Ford NH with no luck. all say the part is obsolete with no superceding no. I have seen no other posting reflecting this problem. Do you have any other solution, except build up the teeth and re-machine them?

I never had cog problems at the oil pump Don.

I have'nt got my books over here. I'll see if anything else crosses out to the Dexta tomorrow.

Thanks Burrhead I certainly appreciate all your effort, I haven't found out anything further here. The idler gear is about 60% worn by the looks of it. I really hate to tell the shop to install an old worn gear with a new one. The repair shop is going to contact a supposedly obsolete farm tractor parts company in California that they have heard about. I'll keep you posted.
