Is a 1952, 4 cyl., gas engine Fordson the same as an 8N?

I get myself an Fordson tractor made in usa, arround 1904 (I don't know it exactly). I'd like to talk with other owners to figure the tractor value.

Dennis,
Your 1952 gas engine could be from an E1ADN which went into production in Europe in November/December 1951.This is an overhead valve, 4 cylinder unit totally unlike the E27N unit that Nathan mentions. It is possible that you may have this E27N unit but this would be a side valve like the N on which it is based.

The later unit was used in Fordson Trucks in this country in the gas and diesel form.

I do not think that either is of use to you as Ford did not change to the European design until the later end of the E1A production (I think).

Regards Brian.

The 1952 Fordson E27N used the same engine as the Fordson model N. It was basically the same design as the Fordson engine dating back to 1917. Many Model N parts will fit the engine. But it has absolutely nothing in common with the 8N except being manufactured by Ford.
