Just got it, I think I've ID'd it right as '54 FMD with loader/backhoe. I'm going to order the manuals, but until they arrive, I'm digging in. There are two 12V batteries connected in parallel, positive ground, the starter has 12V stamped on it, and it has a generator. Are there 12V generators? I put a 12V alternator on my 8N and it charges great, any tips on converting the FMD to 12V? Also, does anyone know where I can find a center cover, between the firewall and radiator shroud? Thanks in advance, I'm sure you guys will be hearing a lot more from me shortly.

The Fordson Major originally has a 12 volt system and it has a generator that works in that system (two 12 V batteries in parallel produce 12 V but more power than one battery). Or perhaps you mean that you want to change the generator to alternator?
