Hi I bought a Fordson on stell that hasnt run in 50 plus years alwayssshedded but neds complete restoration ,Ive noticed that it is different in the rear axle area. The worm drive is on the top instead of the bottom like others Ive seen .Is it the wrong axle assembly? also the tank has only one filler, the radiator sides is differnt in that it has steps like a ladder .any ideas?

what you might have is a early fordson with the Hamilton aftermarket transmission/rear axle assy. This was a popular conversion in the late 20's and replaced the worm drive with a more modern ring and pinion drive. Looking at a Hamilton one might believe that the worm is driving from the top by the way the casting looks.

What state did you find it in? Do you know the history of the previous owners? What numbers or letters are stamped on the engine block at the top front of the manifold area between the first and second port? Does it say Fordson on the front top of the radiator? What does it say on the rear of the fuel tank?

If what you say is true you have a gold mine.. Buy you a fordson book and start reading. Then find a rich fordson collector and you will have it made.. Lucky you
