Hi everyone!

Can anyone help me with this one. I just bought a 56 FMD, with a front end loader. With the three point hitch arms chained in the up position, and the control lever locked in the up position, the loader works great with the seperate controls which someone mounted on the fender. The problem is: in order to use the three point hitch I have to have the loader all the way up in the air, the control locked in the up position, and then I can operate the three point hitch with the controls that operate the loader. If I hold the lever in the up position it lifts, if I let it return to the neutral position it drops like a rock. If I am very careful in letting it out, I can drop it slowly.

Needless to say, I am not satisfied with this.If I was to install a shut off valve in the tap line which goes to the controls on the fender, would I by shutting it off be able to operate my three point hitch normally? Also, I remember that on my Grandfather's FMD we could operate an external cylinder without chaining up the three point hitch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Karl

hi i was just reading your email and quess what we have a 1955 fordson major diesel in Australia
well what we had put on was a tap in between the 3pl arms and the loader hydraulics so you could isolate the 2 of them
what we have is a carry all on the 3pl and chained in the up right postion with sand bags for weight and with the tap fully on use the front end loader with ease.when you want to use the 3pl turn the tap off and use it when you want our tractor runs like a dream and never miss 's a beat
email me and tell how you got on bye
