I would like to know where I could get a starter for a 58 Ford Dexta Deisel. I checked with NAPA and they have one listed for a 59 and 60 Dexta. Is the one on a 58 different? Thanks for any information.

Bernie

Paul's got some sound advice for you. If that don't work, it might be your cheapest bet to go to a rebuilding place. They can do it for half the money. Only look around and get the best one. See ya.

Cant really help you with the info your after, however i'm wondering if your starter is really in need of replacing. I thought mine was gone just recently & actually found I just needed to scape out the division lines on the commutator & replaced a brush spring & it was fine. If you have a Dexta manual ( I&T )it shows how to adjust the switch. The other thing I did was to replace or clean to a sparkling finish each and every electrical connection associated with the starter, and that includes the solinoid. Actually I pulled the solinoid off & cleaned the body where it contacts the frame & installed an earth wire from there to the wiring harness main earth just below it. Made all the difference in the world. I thought I was up for several hundred dollars for a replacement one & it turned out to be just elbow grease & some electrical connections. Just a thought for you anyway...
cheers.....Paul....8^)
